This is the front of our little cottage in Wales UK. Its around 300 years old, I don't think we will ever know the exact date, but its thick walls made of stone are around 3 or 4 foot wide. It has a huge inglenook fireplace, especially considering the size of the cottage. All in all is fairly unusual. Just right for artists! |
This is a photo of a part of our studio. This is the area nick works. We have my area with the computer and my easel, the packing area and also a comfy sofa for clients to sit on. This is Tom our rescue dog who has been with us since Feb 2010 and is just over two years old. He has a few issues which we are dealing with as he was mistreated in his early life. He has a happy and safe home now. He has been to training classes and we have seen a behaviorists as he is scared of other dogs and barked constantly at them, however he is much better now. Giving him confidence along with some firm guidance with the behaviorists advice has worked wonders. He is a lovely companion for Nick and I and is a large part of our life here. You can read more about Tom and his story so far on our main website here - Tom the Dog >>

We could never be without chickens in the garden! I grew up with chickens and ducks on the family small holding and they are more than just egg layers, they are our family pets too. My hens have always had names. The chicken pictured above is Carrie and I hatched her about 7 years ago. She is only a very small hen and lays tiny eggs. We have 5 hens in total two Cochin Bantams, one Wellsummer which lays beautiful rich brown eggs and two rescue battery hens who lay huge eggs. The eggs make wonderful cakes, I love to bake and the eggs are perfect for victoria sponge cakes... See our Chickens here >> |
This is Ammy, our very first rescue cat. The saying comes to mind - 'Only a mother would love him..' and this could have been said for our Ammy. Not many people would have taken him on, He must have been knocked by a car many years previous as his hip had been broken and set awkwardly as it was all out of place. He could walk but quite oddly. His ear, as you can see from the photo was scraped, possibly at the time of the accident. He had very few teeth, he was thin due to various issues.
With regular checkups at the vet, we neutered him and gave him tablets for a poor kidney. His life was much improved in the three years he was with us. He was the most lovely and happy cat I have ever met and I think he couldn't believe his luck that he had finally a loving and comfortable home. He loved to be cuddled and we will always miss Merly, he was very special.. |
Our next rescue cat was a beautiful and very pretty cat called Ammy - or full name Amram after Nick s Cornish smuggling ancestor!
We always knew there was something wrong with Ammy, he had underlying issues from the time he came to us, however to look at him above you would never have known. He had internal ear growths which never fully cleared even with antibiotics and special cream. He also had a condition which effected his heart, and created fluid in his body cavity and around his heart. He was put on tablets, fluid drained a few times, ears cleaned and in general we just looked after him and did everything we could for him.
He spent the last 4 years of his life with us, and was only around 8 when he died. Ammy was a very happy cat, until the last month or so, so he did very well and we miss Ammy too. |
